These remarkable calcium carbonate structures, found within the inner ears of fish, have been quietly collected in our family's treasure chest for over a decade.
Each has been carefully hand-extracted by my husband and me, a labor of love connecting us deeply to the ocean we both cherish. He brings his expertise as a commercial fisherman, while I draw from my background working on fishing research vessels, making every otolith we collect a part of our shared story.
